Is there such thing as concert etiquette? Norm and I went to see Jack Johnson in concert in Atlanta. We had lawn seats and got there as soon as doors opened so we could have an awesome location - front and center.
We sat and waited for 4 hours - yes, it took 4 hours before Jack Johnson played - obviously as time went by, people wandered in and everybody picked their ideal location. Before we knew it, there were people in front of us - they were sitting on the steep slope, so they kept sliding, which was a very amusing sight.
There are a few things that I do not understand (Norm does) and I don't know if I will ever understand:
1. what is the point of arriving early to a concert when the late stragglers are simply going to crowd on top of you to get a good seat. Why not just arrive late and be rude?
2. what is the point of standing up at a concert? There are some concerts that standing up is welcomed (concerts with heavy wild music). Jack Johnson music is laid back and calm - a live performance should be enjoyed sitting and relaxing.
3. what is the point of spending extra money and getting a "chair" seat instead of a "lawn" seat (when lawn seats are available) if everybody is going to get up anyway?
At the end of the day (12:15am - when we got home), the concert was great. Jack Johnson is a very talented musician and sends out a good message with awesome lyrics. The performance made the 4 hour wait, rude stragglers and the scorching sun more tolerable.

We had to kill... time... some... how.... this was how: Stage shot - Jack Johnson is the little lit up person - the TVs in the
background showed awesome pictures: Blurry shot: Hi-Def TVs on stage and the crowd standing up,
yes I ended up standing
(only for a song or two - and mainly so I could take pictures)
