Today at work, we had the opportunity to listen to the former president. I'm not going to type out any names because I recently learned about "google alerts" and got really freaked out so I don't want special agencies confiscating my blog - although I have only good things to say.
The program lasted about 20 minutes and it was open to about 300 employees. The presentation was awesome, he was ready to go golfing, so he was all decked out in khakis, tennis shoes and sweater with sleeves rolled up. He mainly spoke about how freedom should be available to everybody as a God-given right and nobody should take freedom away from others. He also spoke about the power of prayer, adjustments to "not being in office" and a book he's writing about the 12 most difficult decisions he's had to make while in office.
As I sat and listened to this powerful man, all I could think about was how grateful I was that the owners and leaders of our company had extended this opportunity (for many a "once in a lifetime" opportunity) to the masses and had not selfishly reserved it for an elite group of company leaders.
The environment was so relaxed! We were there in the same room with him and all his entourage. He was funny, realistic, positive and normal. It's times like these that help us realize that regardless of the power that an individual holds, deep down, they are human beings just like us. We have to remember this, because just like us, they have ups and downs, they make mistakes and learn from them.
Sorry I have no pictures - I thought security was going to be so extreme that I left everything (including cell phone) in the car. Come to find out that pictures were allowed...
Pictures and stories of Norm, Fern, Benjamin - the Big Brother and Nicolas - the Little Brother and Sofia Grace - the baby sister. A new chapter has started in this household of only human feet and no two days have yet been the same.

Doggie Walk
Cali and I went to the Doggie Walk in Greensboro this morning. I absolutely do not like waking up early (my "early" definition is anything prior to 8:30am) but today's 6:20am wake up time was very much worth it. Enjoy some pictures! (I think I am the only dork that goes on walks with a camera... but it's fun and without it I wouldn't have been able to get these...)
Here we're at the drive through grabbing something quick to eat
Cal waiting for the walk to start
Friends from work and their dogs - note how Cali is sitting proper, but facing the wrong way...
Had to take a mini break so she could drink some water out of the water bottle (actually it was more like "attempt" to drink water out of the water bottle)
Then we got to the "water station"
Absolutely loved it!
What a fun day! I'm sure she'll be passed out until Monday morning from all the out-of-the-ordinary exercise.

Growing Up
Juan Ma has been attending Social this past year - it's an after school activity where kids learn proper etiquette, manners, social skills and dancing. So in the Spring, they have a dance performance. Norm and I went to Augusta to watch!
Juan Ma (with his mom's driving help) picked up Katie before the dance. He's so handsome!
It's official - he is now taller than me (and it won't be long before he's taller than Norm!). It sure doesn't seem like he was born 13 years ago...
